08.14.2020Executive Leadership Team Update

By Michael Mitchell, SVP & Chief Operating Officer

I hope this message finds you and your family in good health. Despite the obvious distractions of COVID-19, CCM's business has continued to operate with a high degree of efficiency and service quality. I'm very proud of our employees for their persistence and determination. I'm grateful to CCM's families who support the team as they work long hours to meet the needs of our customers.

In response to the pandemic, we witnessed a seamless transition to our "Work from Home" mandate.  Lessons learned from previous hurricanes and winter storms helped prepare us to react and to migrate to a remote work arrangement quickly. CCM had the forethought to replace all desktop computers years ago, replacing them with laptop computers, ensuring the entire business could operate remotely.

Managing through a crisis is challenging. As with other forms of crises, it's essential to remain calm, develop a comprehensive recovery plan, monitor how employees are coping, communicate often, project a positive message, and encourage our teams. Whether we maintain a cohesive unit by using goal-oriented projects or through employee engagement, the process is crucial to the overall strategy. In times of crisis, it becomes even more evident that the employees are our greatest asset.

I've known many challenges in my life, both personally and professionally. Today more than ever, I think it is vital that we put the events unfolding around us into perspective. Remember that we can't control all of the circumstances that impact us, but we can control how we react to them. We shouldn't allow negativity to influence our perception of the world or to influence our decision making and how we treat our customers.

Too often, I see businesses blaming poor service on COVID-19, instead of working hard to set an example during these trying times. In the future, people will look back and remember how companies reacted during the crisis and whether the leadership cared and led by example. I'm proud to say that CCM cares about its people, and this team is leading by example.

Stay well, and thank you again for your hard work and dedication.
